A Personal Cirriculum
02.25 / No.01

Often “curriculum” is limited to a prescribed means of achieving an outcome that we may or may not be interested in realizing. Unfortunately, when “curriculum” as a concept becomes in totality boring, tedious, and programmed we become distanced from a helpful practice for our personal development.

A Personal Curriculum reframes a negatively loaded word by creating a tailored mix of habits, morals, and values strung together by a desire to grow. When we develop a Personal Curriculum we create space for our unique tastes, interests, and curiosities to drive what we spend time pursuing. With a Personal Curriculum, exercising becomes an important task central to our positive development. With a Personal Curriculum, avoiding excessive screen-time is a foundational step in curating what we consume. With a personal Curriculum, reading a few pages a day becomes another opportunity to determine who we’ll end up becoming.

When we take up the mantle of curating our personal development we become freed from depending on dated learning plans and misinformed guidelines. Ultimately though, the value of a Personal Curriculum is found in taking a deliberate step as opposed to creating a well thought out lesson plan.
