Is a short turn of phrase you can offer yourself and those in the know as a defense against the rampant use of Silispeak or the tendency to discuss life as if every problem is one code snippet away from being utopianized. While it may seem confrontational to point out when someone is talking Sili, this subtle registration is closely related to the cultural tendency of “clocking tea.” It’s simply noticing that the espousing of X,Y,Z person is in need of further scrutiny, or is likely, just some bullshit. Here are a few common ways in which people talk sili.
“Let’s optimize our workflow”
“We need to boost engagement and retention”
“Our firm is driving unprecedented levels of innovation”
“The next update will ensure best in class performance”
“Our product is democratizing access and revolutionizing the competitive landscape”
In each instance, I would simultaneously register that X,Y,Z person is talking Sili, yet would verbally restrain from voicing my discovery. Noticing the Silispeak among us doesn’t have to be a public affair, it can be as simple as choosing to “circle back” to words and phrases that seem distinctly inhuman or too good to be true.
